How to become a member ?
To apply for the project, fill out the contact form down below and indicate which team and tasks (detailed below) interest you. After the reception of your candidacy, you will be contacted by the leaders of the teams you’ve applied to. They will interview you in order to discuss your motivation and role in the Asclepios project.
Members of the project are members of the Asclepios association which aims at promoting space sciences and is responsible for the Asclepios project. Its yearly membership fee is CHF 25 (swiss francs). If you are selected, we will provide you with more details on how to join the Asclepios association.

Organize the project’s participation in events (stand, equipment, logistics) to expand the project’s outreach, and coordinate the teams for the event.

Produces videos (aftermovies, trailers, etc…), designs visual communication (posters, roll-ups, etc…), records and photographs project events, both internal and external.

The Flight Director (FLIGHT) is responsible for the overall ASCLEPIOS-IV mission operation. During the mission, that person is responsible for ensuring that the resources of the MCC and the supporting operational ground segment were adequate to conduct mission operations. That person has the final decision-making authority.

The Earth Communicator (CAPCOM) has the responsibility for coordinating the communications between the MCC and the field crew (via voice communications and chat). That person should have gone through the astronaut training and know the crew very well.

The procedure monitoring position (PROCEDURES) maintains the compilation of the standard operating procedures as well as experiment procedures to ensure that the field crew and the MCC have access to the most recent editions. During the mission, PROCEDURES observes if the sequence of events is done according to the given procedures and informs FLIGHT in case any deviations (both time – or procedure-wise) that might endanger the operations occurs.
The Flight Planning (FP) team schedules the activities to be conducted in the fields, based on the input from the Experiments team and the Communication Team. That person is responsible for updating the schedule in real time during the mission in case delay, weather, etc.

The Records Manager (RECORDS) ensures continuous log file of what is happening in the field as well as in the Mission Control Centre. This position uses the Uberlog software to keep track of all activities (in the MCC or in the Field). Biomedical and psychological recordings are NOT part of the RECORDS logfiles but are maintained by the BME due to their personal and sensitive nature.

As Science specialist (SCS) I am responsible for the experiments performed during the mission. I provide assistance to the analog astronauts if something doesn’t go as planned inside the base or during the EVAs and I am responsible for the quality of the data of the experiments.

CONTACTS is responsible for all exterior contact including public, media and other. That person is responsible for the coordination of media activities and the management of media inquiries. That person is generally handling the communication of the mission to the general public via social media channels and traditional press as well as responsible for event planning.

The Biomedical Engineer (BME) has the overall responsibility at the MCC for crew health related issues. The BME provides support for all issues related to crew health and medical data management, including monitoring of medical data, pre-flight preparation and post-flight rehabilitation. The BME also assists in medical policy making and telemedicine procedures. BME is in contact with the mission’s doctor, ready to react in case of medical emergencies. The BME should have a medical background.
