Engineering for
analog missions

Asclepios Lab is an engineering association based at EPFL in Lausanne. We design and manufacture integrated hardware deployed directly within our own Asclepios missions, providing a unique and direct testing platform to evaluate emerging technology, scientific experiments, and human performance in isolated, extreme environments.

01 4–10 h / week

Spacesuit Design

Design, build, and deploy an analogue spacesuit prototype (HUT, helmet, PLSS, and technical garment) capable of supporting 5-to-8-hour field EVA simulations during the July 2027 Asclepios mission.

Tracks
Hard Upper Torso — rigid composite torso with an internal trekking load-bearing frame and an integrated helmet.
Physiology & life support — PLSS housing active ventilation, an integrated hydration pack and power distribution for multi-hour field operations.
Outer garment & telemetry — weatherproof, abrasion-reinforced textile suit with CO2 and temperature sensors, threshold alarms, lights and camera mounts.
You will work with
CAD & 3D printing, embedded electronics, fluid airflow dynamics, manufacturing, technical textile prototyping.
02 2–8 h / week

VR Environments

Develop an Earth–Moon orbital journey to train crew piloting and ground-control coordination, as well as an immersive VR emergency response trainer.

Projects
Mission simulation — fly a custom lunar trajectory in Reentry and connect live telemetry to a student Mission Control Center under realistic flight rules.
Emergency scenario — build a VR emergency response simulator in Unity, recreating rapid depressurization and system failures against official spaceflight procedures.

Depending on student turnout, the projects will run either simultaneously or consecutively (1st: Mission Simulation, 2nd: Emergency Scenario).

You will work with
Spacecraft operations, real-time C#, Unity (OpenXR), spatial 3D audio, operational procedures, human factors & testing.
03 1–3 h / week

Communication &
Graphic Design

A Content Creator and Visual Designer to shape our public image, bringing our projects and events to life across social channels and on campus, with the freedom to pitch fresh ideas.

Responsibilities
Planning, scheduling and posting regular content on Instagram and LinkedIn.
Creating print materials for campus distribution — posters, flyers, banners.
Designing merchandise and contributing to our overall visual style.
We are looking for
A creative eye, autonomy, clear communication, and basic familiarity with design platforms and posting workflows.

How to apply

One form covers all three teams. Open to all students based in Lausanne (EPFL, UNIL, …) — interest in space missions and strong motivation matter more than a specific degree.
